IBM Options and Adapters - IBM Color Display
The IBM Color Display section of IBM's Options and Adapters technical reference is the manufacturer's own description, specification and schematic for the IBM 5153 colour display.
What it contains
[edit | edit source]- Description — the 1.5 m direct-drive signal cable from the Color/Graphics Monitor Adapter, the display's own mains cable and its power supply, which switches automatically between 120 V 60 Hz and 220 V 50 Hz; the 340 mm (13-inch) CRT; the front-panel power, brightness and contrast controls and the rear-panel vertical hold and vertical size controls.
- Characteristics — high-contrast black screen, up to 16 colours with the Color/Graphics Monitor Adapter, 80 characters by 25 rows with characters defined in an 8 PEL high by 8 PEL wide matrix, independent red, green, blue and intensity signals, positive synchronous TTL vertical drive at 50/60 Hz non-interlaced, and positive-level TTL horizontal drive at 15.75 kHz.
- Physical specifications — 297 mm high, 392 mm long, 407 mm deep; 11.8 kg; 240 BTU/hr; 1.83 m 18 AWG power cable and 1.5 m 22 AWG signal cable.
- Logic diagram — the full schematic, carrying IBM's warning that hazardous voltages up to 450 V exist on the printed circuit boards.
