The Macintosh Performa 200 is a compact all-in-one Macintosh sold by Apple from September 14, 1992 to October 18, 1993.[1] It is the Macintosh Classic II with Performa badging, sold through consumer retail shops with bundled software; the hardware is the same, and Apple covers both in one service manual.[2][3] It was one of the first three Performa models, with the Performa 400 and 600.[2]
EveryMac gives the US price as US$900; Low End Mac gives US$1,250.[1][2]

Apple's processor entry reads "32-bit internal data bus"; the path to memory is 16 bits wide.[3][1] The two 30-pin SIMM sockets on the logic board take SIMMs in matching pairs.[1] Apple's Service Source says 120 ns SIMMs; EveryMac gives 100 ns.[3][1]
The 44-pin connector is described by Apple as a cache connector "for optional memory expansion", taking 256K × 4-bit DRAMs.[3] EveryMac describes it as a slot intended for an FPU that Apple never released.[1]
The electrical figures are Apple's 100–120 V figures. Machines sold for 220–240 V mains have a different power/sweep board; see Macintosh Classic II Capacitor Replacement Guide.
Hardware
[edit | edit source]The machine has two main boards, the logic board and a combined power/sweep board that holds the power supply and the CRT drive circuits. Apple's manual calls it the power/sweep board throughout; the SE and SE/30 split these functions between an analogue board and a separate power supply.[3] The PRAM battery is a 3.6 V lithium cell; Apple's rule is to replace it below 3.0 V, measured with the cover off, the CRT discharged and the logic board out.[3][1]
Known faults
[edit | edit source]Apple's symptom charts point most video, power and noise faults at the power/sweep board, and memory faults at the SIMMs and logic board.[3] In practice the surface-mount electrolytics on the logic board and the capacitors on the power/sweep board have aged, and the PRAM battery can leak. The CRT and the power/sweep board carry dangerous voltages. Discharge the CRT before working inside; see CRT Discharge Procedure.
