PET Shack Service Bundle
The PET-Shack service bundle is a 37-page compilation of Commodore PET 2001 service material assembled and sold by P.S. Software House / Marketing and Research Co. ("PET-SHACK"), P.O. Box 966, Mishawaka, Indiana, over the signature of its president Larry R. Shallenberger.
It is not a Commodore document. It is a third-party bundle, and what makes it worth having is that it collects things Commodore's own PET 2001 documentation does not: an errata sheet against the published schematics, and the data sheets for the chips the machine is built from.
The scan carries no text layer.

What this bundle settles
[edit | edit source]- The PET's IEEE-488 bus transceivers are MC3446s, and the bundle carries the full Motorola data sheet for them — the device most likely to be damaged by hot-plugging a disk drive, and the one Commodore's parts list names without describing.
- The cassette deck has its own circuit, with values, which the Commodore PET 2001 documentation on this wiki does not cover.
- A 0.0047 µF 1 kV capacitor exists in the machine. Any PET capacitor list that gives every part a low voltage rating is missing this one.
- TIP29 and TIP30 are the supply pass transistors — a complementary pair, easy to fit the wrong way round.
What this bundle does not contain
[edit | edit source]- It is not authoritative for Commodore part numbers or values. Where it disagrees with Commodore's own parts lists and schematics, those are the primary source and this is a secondary one. The errata sheet is one collector's corrections, not a Commodore ECO.
- No complete board parts list and no board layout.
- No text layer, so nothing in it is searchable.
- The data sheets are generic manufacturer documents, not PET-specific.
