The Power Macintosh 6200 is a personal computer introduced by Apple Computer on May 28, 1995.[1] It uses the compact desktop case design of the Macintosh Quadra 630 and features a PowerPC 603 processor. The Power Macintosh 6200 was sold primarily in Asia, while the consumer version—the Performa 6200CD—was sold worldwide.

Apple service data

Apple's own figures for this family, from the Performa 6200/6300 Series Service Source volume hosted on this wiki.[2]

Item Apple's figure (6200/6300 series except 6360)
Case Height 4.3 in. (10.95 cm), width 16.5 in. (41.95 cm), depth 12.6 in. (32 cm)
Weight Without CD-ROM 17 lb. (7.7 kg); with CD-ROM 19 lb. (8.6 kg)
Line voltage 100–240 VAC, 47–63 Hz (Performa 6360: 90–270 VAC, 43–67 Hz)
Power 125 W; 2.5 A maximum and 220 W maximum for all line and load conditions (6360: 150 W)
Level 2 cache 256K, standard across the series
ROM / video 4 MB ROM; 1 MB of DRAM on board for video support
Sound 16-bit monophonic sound input — the port accepts a stereo signal but combines it to mono for play-through or recording — and 16-bit stereophonic output, nominally 0.5 V RMS into 39 ohms, on two ports (front headphone jack, rear stereo mini phone jack). The internal speaker is muted when a plug is inserted in an output jack
Slots Processor-direct slot 96/114-pin (not fitted on the 6360); communications slot 112-pin; video-in slot 60-pin; TV tuner port 10-pin
SCSI / ADB One external DB-25 SCSI port, up to seven devices; one ADB port, mini DIN-4
PRAM battery Apple's symptom chart calls it a 4.5 V battery; verify it on the 10 V DC scale with the logic board removed and replace below 3.0 V

The Performa 6360 is the exception on almost every line. Apple gives it 16-bit stereophonic input and output with SRS 3D Surround Sound, a sound-input connector at line level 2 Vpp maximum into 10 kilohms and an output at 2 Vpp maximum into 32 ohms, one built-in speaker rather than two, one 6.88-inch PCI slot in place of the processor-direct slot, GeoPort-compatible serial ports, and memory in two 168-pin, 70 ns DIMM sockets expandable to 136 MB where the rest of the family uses two 72-pin, 80 ns SIMM sockets to 64 MB.[2]

Two things in this volume are Apple's own errors and are not repeated here: a "Video Screen: 15-inch 0.28 mm dot-pitch CRT" entry, which belongs to the 5200-series all-in-one and not to a desktop machine, and the battery instruction printed as "Unplug 4.5 V battery" in this volume but as "Unplug 5.4 battery" in the 630-series volumes for the identical step.[2]
