CX85 Numeric Keypad Field Service Manual
[edit | edit source]The CX85 Numeric Keypad Field Service Manual is Atari, Inc.'s service document FD100176, dated November 1982 and printed in the USA. Its inside title page calls it the Atari CX85 Numeric Keypad Repair Manual. The hosted scan has 12 PDF pages: the cover, the inside cover with the © 1982 notice and Atari's publishing address at 1265 Borregas Avenue, Sunnyvale, the title page, a disclaimer page giving Atari's Consumer Product Service address at 845 Maude Avenue, Sunnyvale, six pages of content and two blank pages. The manual says that no special tools or test equipment are needed, only an Atari 400 computer.

What this manual does not contain
[edit | edit source]- Any test-point voltages apart from +5 V at the cable, at pin 1 of IC1 and at pin 20 of IC2.
- Disassembly steps; figure 1 shows the assembly only as an exploded drawing.
- The keypad handler software or its source. The FSM test program reads the keypad directly from BASIC.
- Part numbers for the two ICs, which the parts list gives by type only (4049B and MCM74C923N).
