The '''Power Macintosh 6100/WS 6150''' volume of Apple's ''Service Source'' is a '''160-page''' service manual covering the Power Macintosh 6100/60, 6100/60AV, 6100/66, 6100/66AV, 6100/DOS Compatible and Workgroup Server 6150. The PDF was distilled on '''2 January 1996'''.
The '''''Power Macintosh 6100/WS 6150''''' Service Source is Apple's 160-page service manual for the Power Macintosh 6100/60, 6100/60AV, 6100/66, 6100/66AV, 6100/DOS Compatible and Workgroup Server 6150. The PDF was created on 2 January 1996. Page numbers below are PDF pages.

''Service Source'' volumes are '''module-level''' documents. They give Apple's own specifications, symptom charts, take-apart procedures and module part numbers, but they do '''not''' carry schematics, board-level parts lists or component values, so they cannot be used to source a capacitor table. Where a figure below is quoted, it is quoted as Apple printed it.
Like other Service Source volumes it is module-level: Apple's specifications, symptom charts, take-apart procedures, upgrade procedures and an exploded view with part numbers. It has no schematics and no component values.

The Basics chapter prints the '''HDI-45 pinout''', the '''rear panel connector''' map and the '''logic board connector''' map. The HDI-45 pinout is the practical one: it is how you work out what an AV monitor cable is carrying, and it appears in only three volumes (6100, 7100, 8100).
The Basics chapter prints the HDI-45 video connector pinout (pp. 9–14), with the rear panel and logic board connector maps. Apple's troubleshooting tips (pp. 6–8) say that on these machines a dialog box reports bad SIMMs and there are no death chimes, and that a machine that will not power up should have its logic board reset first. The DOS Compatibility Upgrade section (pp. 126–139) covers fitting the 486DX2 card and warns that its J10 jumper is mismarked and must be in the "SX" position. The Power Macintosh Upgrade section (pp. 140–158) covers the logic board kits that turned other machines into a 6100/60 or WS 6150.

The Power Macintosh 6100/WS 6150 Service Source is Apple's 160-page service manual for the Power Macintosh 6100/60, 6100/60AV, 6100/66, 6100/66AV, 6100/DOS Compatible and Workgroup Server 6150. The PDF was created on 2 January 1996. Page numbers below are PDF pages.

Like other Service Source volumes it is module-level: Apple's specifications, symptom charts, take-apart procedures, upgrade procedures and an exploded view with part numbers. It has no schematics and no component values.

Notable content

What this manual does not contain

  • No schematic, no parts list below module level, no component values.
  • No Adjustments chapter and no rail voltages.
  • The exploded view does not say which of the two logic board part numbers (661-0207, 661-1022) is which model.
