Color StyleWriter 2400 Service Source
Appearance
The Color StyleWriter 2400 volume of Apple's Service Source is Apple's 158-page field-service manual for the Color StyleWriter 2400, "a desktop color bubble-jet printer for personal use" with a cut sheet feeder, printing up to 3 pages per minute.[1] Unlike the 2500, the 2400 has an internal power supply and a fuse.

Notes from the manual
[edit | edit source]- Power: the No power chart runs check the cable, replace the power cord, replace the fuse, replace the power supply. The supply comes out after the front covers, rear covers and cut sheet feeder, by disconnecting connector CNV from the logic board and loosening two screws; the fuse is behind its own cover. The exploded view lists the power supply as 661-0162 (110 V) and 661-0163 (220 V), marked "2400 only", and fuses 922-0180 (125 V) and 922-0181 (250 V); it gives no current rating for the fuse.[1]
- Waste ink: the amount of ink absorbed is stored in the logic board's EEPROM. A waste ink full error is cured by replacing the ink absorbers (kit 076-0470), and the EEPROM must be reset after replacing either the absorbers or the logic board. When replacing the logic board, replace the lower absorber always and the upper one if it has ink in it, unless the absorbers have been in use for two weeks or less or fewer than 50 pages.[1]
- The EEPROM reset on the 2400 works only with the black-only cartridge fitted: with the front door open, hold the power button while connecting the power cord, press it again and close the door. A pattern page prints, and a white last bar shows the reset worked.[1]
- The small gears and springs in the front door fall out of place if a paper jam is pulled out by force, and they were not available as service parts.[1]
- A carriage that moves back and forth for five minutes means a print job was cancelled during a purge; switch the printer off and on.[1]
- The LocalTalk module was an optional upgrade, with its own entry in the Operation symptom chart.[1]
