Color StyleWriter Pro Service Source
The Color StyleWriter Pro volume of Apple's Service Source is Apple's 152-page field-service manual for the Color StyleWriter Pro, "a desktop color bubble-jet printer for personal use" with a 64-nozzle four-colour print head and a separate ink cartridge for each colour.[1]

Notes from the manual
[edit | edit source]- Service mode uses the buttons and LEDs on the controller board, which are reached by removing the top cover and the inner cover. Hold the power and select buttons while plugging in the power cord; a four-tone beep confirms service mode. For the service test page, which shows whether the print heads need aligning, press select until the black, magenta and yellow LEDs (5, 3 and 2) light, then press power.[1]
- The Color SW Pro Utility must be run after replacing the controller board, the power supply, the carriage board or the ink absorber plates. It downloads new parameters to the EEPROM on the controller board, with the printer in EEPROM download mode (cyan, magenta and yellow LEDs lit).[1]
- The power supply connects to the controller board at JPOW1 and is held by two screws. The fuse is behind its own cover; the exploded view gives fuse part numbers 922-0180 (125 V) and 922-0181 (250 V) without a current rating.[1]
- The troubleshooting LED tables cover 17 error indications, from paper empty or jammed through ink absorber full, EEPROM error and print head error.[1]

What this manual does not contain
[edit | edit source]It is written at module level: there is no schematic, no component values, no capacitor list and no voltage figures for the internal supply, only the mains rating.[1]
