The PCW9512+ has 512K of RAM, one 3.5-inch 720K drive with provision for a second, a paper-white 12-inch monochrome screen showing 90 columns by 32 lines, a full-size PC-style 82-key keyboard with adjustable legs, and a parallel printer port. It came with LocoScript 2, Locomail, Locospell, CP/M Plus, Mallard BASIC, GSX and Dr Logo. The daisywheel printer prints bi-directionally at 20 cps on a 15-inch carriage, loads paper automatically by bail bar action, takes daisywheels in 10, 12 and 15 cpi, and comes with a 30-sheet automatic sheet feeder and a removable tractor feed.
The same page specifies the Canon BJ-10e bubble jet printer: 83, 100 and 142 cps at 10, 12 and 17 cpi; 360 × 360 dpi in high quality and 180 × 360 in draft; 52-90 g/m² paper through the sheet feeder or 52-105 g/m² by hand; Courier and Prestige Elite typefaces; a 64-nozzle head; IBM Proprinter X24E emulation; a Centronics interface; 310 × 216 × 48 mm and about 1.8 kg; and a 240 V 50 Hz 25 W AC adaptor of about 0.6 kg, with an optional NiCd battery pack.
The safety tests are a 4 kV flash test between the joined mains live and neutral and all accessible exterior metal, and an insulation test requiring at least 4 MΩ.

The supply is checked at connector A with CP102 disconnected and electronic loads of 1.8 A on 5 V and 1.2 A each on 12 V and 24 V (Fig. 2-1). The 24 V output should be within 1.2 V; 12 V is set with VR5002 to ±0.01 V and 5 V with VR5001 to ±0.05 V. The chart then covers vertical size (VR4002, VR4003), linearity, horizontal hold at 15.625 kHz (VR4005), sub-brightness (VR4006) and the printer hammer current, set with VR701 until the pulse waveform is 2.4 V. What it settles
[edit | edit source]Specification (p. 2)
[edit | edit source]The PCW9512+ has 512K of RAM, one 3.5-inch 720K drive with provision for a second, a paper-white 12-inch monochrome screen showing 90 columns by 32 lines, a full-size PC-style 82-key keyboard with adjustable legs, and a parallel printer port.
Alignment (p. 3)
[edit | edit source]The supply is checked at connector A with CP102 disconnected and electronic loads of 1.8 A on 5 V and 1.2 A each on 12 V and 24 V (Fig. The equipment list is a digital voltmeter, oscilloscope, frequency counter, test pattern generator, and the RP6 or a pattern disc.
The daisywheel mechanism (pp. 6-15)
[edit | edit source]The printer is broken down into separate exploded views and parts lists for the paper feed, tractor, paper end sensor, carrier frame, print head and hammer drive, ribbon drive, wheel set release, ribbon cassette base, and chassis and carrier drive.

What this manual does not contain
[edit | edit source]There is no floppy drive service section, no flow chart and no fault-finding procedure. There is no memory map or I/O port list; for those see Amstrad PCW Hardware Reference (John Elliott). The manual covers the PCW9512+ only, not the earlier PCW 9512.
