What this manual does not contain
[edit | edit source]- A schematic, parts list or disassembly beyond removing the cover.
- The name of the drive mechanism or controller inside.
- The European mains rating; the manual's fuse advice (1½ A, type 3AG) is marked "USA only".[1]

SH204 specification sheet
[edit | edit source]Atari Corp.'s one-page SH204 Hard Disk Drive Specifications, part number C026320 Rev. B, copyright 1986, printed in Taiwan. It gives the US mains rating (120 V 60 Hz), power consumption, drive geometry, transfer rate, dimensions and environmental limits.[2]

Host adapter card schematic
[edit | edit source]Atari (Japan) Corporation's Host Adapter Card Schematic Diagram, drawing C026198, part number CA026199, size D, one sheet, marked "Used on SH204" with the revision "A, Production release". It shows the DMA (ACSI) interface to the ST, the 50-pin connector J2 to the disk controller, a PAL16L8 (U6) and the unit number switch.[3] The Internet Archive item that holds it is titled "German" and "1984"; the drawing is in English.
It does not cover the disk controller board, the power supply or the drive. The card in a drive photographed by atari-computermuseum.de is marked "Host Adapter Card C026266 Rev. C".[4]

[edit | edit source]The Atari Document Archive (dev-docs.org) catalogues schematics for two SH204 power supplies, an Astec ASP34-4 (C100116 Rev. A, 23 October 1986) and a Delta DPS-40 BP, and a Dutch "HD Technical Info" pack covering the SH204, SH205, Megafiles and SLM804. Searches of the Internet Archive by title found none of them.[5] The Internet Archive item that holds the owner's manual also has disk images of the SH boot disk and Atari's HD boot disk.[6]
