This category holds programming books, compiler manuals and language references for the Macintosh. Almost none of them is a repair source: they carry no schematics, parts lists, component values or fault-finding procedures. For hardware, start at Maintenance Guides.
Documents that bear on hardware
[edit | edit source]- Motorola MC68030 User's Manual – Motorola's manual for the processor in the 68030 Macintosh models, from the IIx to the LC III. It has the VCC and GND pin assignments, the maximum ratings, the thermal figures, the ordering table and Motorola's decoupling recommendation (10 µF + 0.1 µF + 330 pF in parallel, as close to the device as possible). The DC and AC electrical specifications are in a separate Motorola document.
- Power PC Concepts Architecture Design 1994 – PowerPC architecture, from a workstation series alongside RS/6000 and AIX titles.
- PowerPC 604 RISC Microprocessor Users Manual 1994 – the user's manual for the PowerPC 604 processor.
- MacsBug Reference and Debugging Guide (in Apple Documentation) – Apple's debugger manual. Its Debugging Strategies chapter separates a reproducible software crash from a hardware fault.
Apple's and the vendors' own manuals
