The Apple Color OneScanner 1200/30 is the last of Apple's OneScanner flatbed scanners: a single-pass 30-bit colour scanner with 600 × 1200 dpi optical resolution (4800 × 4800 dpi interpolated), a xenon lamp and a SCSI-2 interface.[1][2] Apple's Tech Info Library described it in September 1996, and Wikipedia records that sales ended in 1997.[3][4]
It shares its case and much of its design with the Apple Color OneScanner 600/27: the same size, the same carriage lock, the same SCSI ID and termination switch, the same power supply board and inverter, and the same J101 supply voltages.[2][5] What it adds is twice the optical resolution, 30-bit depth, OneScanner Dispatcher 2.0, and support for the Transparent Media Adapter, which the 600/27 cannot use.[3][6]

The Transparent Media Adapter works as the scanner's top cover and has its own lamp, which moves to scan from the back. Its smooth underside, the diffuser, marks easily, and scratches on it show in every film scan; Apple's answer to a scratched diffuser is a new adapter. Clean the diffuser only with a dry, soft cloth and light pressure, never with alcohol, benzene or ammonia cleaners. Leave a 15 mm (0.59 in) light correction zone clear at the top of the glass, or the adapter lamp may not light or move. Fill unused film-guide slots with the shutter strips, or light leaking past the film whitens the edges of negatives.[6][5]
