What it settles
[edit | edit source]- Screws (pp. 10-11, 44): the case is held by self-threading Torx T-6 screws. Do not overtighten them, and back each one off slightly before tightening so that it follows its thread.
- Top cover (p. 45): close the mechanical release lever, flush with the top cover, before separating the covers.
- Link (p. 54): never remove the mounting clips at the ends of the latch; the link is under pressure and can spring up.
- Logic board return (p. 51): fit the flex circuit stabiliser behind the PDS interface cable and tie it to the board before returning a faulty board.
- Ports (pp. 16-17): HDI-20 floppy, HDI-30 SCSI with built-in terminator and up to five external devices, ADB at 200 mA, two RS-422 serial, mono sound in and out, DB-15 video, telephone pass-through.
- Service part numbers (p. 61): top cover 815-1262, bottom cover assembly 815-1263, logic board 661-1664, mechanical latch assembly 922-0103, modem interface card 922-0095 (US) and 922-0094 (international).
What this manual does not contain
[edit | edit source]- No schematics, no board layouts and no component values. The four logic board electrolytics are listed on Apple PowerBook Duo MiniDock Capacitor Replacement Guide from community sources.
- The only miscellaneous fault, a MiniDock that will not connect or disconnect, has one cure: replace the mechanical latch (p. 42).
