The Power Macintosh 6300 is a desktop Macintosh computer released on June 27, 1996.[1] It features a PowerPC 603e processor available at 100 MHz or 120 MHz with a 40 MHz system bus.
This model was sold only in Asia. The consumer version, the Performa 6300CD, was sold worldwide with the addition of a TV/video system.
Hardware Overview
Processor and Memory
The Power Macintosh 6300 uses a PowerPC 603e processor at 100 or 120 MHz with a 32-bit processor and 64-bit data path. It has 32K of L1 cache and 256K of L2 cache.
RAM uses 72-pin SIMMs at 80 ns minimum speed, with 2 RAM slots supporting up to 64 MB total. 1 MB of system RAM is dedicated to video function.
Storage
The system includes a 1.2 GB IDE hard drive and a 4X CD-ROM drive. A 1.44 MB floppy drive is standard.
Display
The system supports a single external display at 640ร480 at 16-bit or 800ร600/832ร624 at 8-bit. A second display can be added with an expansion video card.
Expansion
The system has one LC PDS slot, plus Comm, TV, and video input/output expansion slots.
Case Design
The 6300 uses the Macintosh Quadra 630 case form factor.
