The Macintosh Performa 6260CD is a model in Apple's Performa 6200 series of desktop Macintoshes. Apple's specification sheet gives it a 100 MHz PowerPC 603e, 8 MB of RAM and a 800 MB IDE hard drive, with an introduction date of 19 June 1996. Apple notes that it was not sold in the United States, and gives Japanese system software as shipped.[1] EveryMac lists it as sold in Asia and Europe, with Japanese order number M5144J/A, until 1 December 1996.[2]
It uses the 100 MHz PowerPC 603e board of the 6290CD and 6300CD; Apple's repair parts list gives that logic board as 661-1041.[3] The Macintosh Performa 6200CD page has the model table for the series, the full specification, Apple's repair extension procedure and a selection of Apple's symptom charts.

Battery and repair extension
[edit | edit source]The battery is a 4.5 V alkaline pack.[1] Apple's test is to measure it on the 10 V DC range with the logic board out and replace it below 3.0 V.[3] Neutralise alkaline leakage with a weak acid such as vinegar; see Battery Explosion, Capacitor or Corrosion Damage.
Apple's repair extension programme for system freezes and sudden changes in video colour hue covers the Performa 62xx and 63xx except the 6320 and 6360, but its list of covered models does not name the 6260. The procedure, which checks the clock chip at U10 and the cache/ROM DIMM, is on the Performa 6200CD page.[3]
