The Macintosh Performa 250 is a compact all-in-one Macintosh with a colour screen. It is the Macintosh Color Classic sold under a Performa name, and was not sold in the United States.[1][2] EveryMac says it was sold only in the UK and Australia.[2] Apple gives the dates as 1 February 1993 to 1 May 1994; EveryMac gives 1 April 1993 to 1 March 1994.[1][2]

The keyboard has a soft power switch.[3] The PRAM battery is a 3.6 V lithium cell; Apple says to replace it below 3.0 V.[1][4] The original system software is System 7.1 with System Enabler 401.[1]
Hardware
[edit | edit source]The logic board comes out of the back of the machine once the I/O door is removed, without opening the case (PDF pp. 38–40). Apple's charts send smoke, power and most picture faults to the analogue board.[5] After refitting the logic board, check that no bent chassis tab can touch the underside of the board.[5] The CRT and analogue board carry dangerous voltages; discharge the CRT before working inside. A thin grey horizontal line across the lower third of a lit screen is part of the Trinitron design. Apple's instruction is "Do not replace modules."[6]
