Sources: Apple's technical specifications and the Performa 400 Series Service Source, pp. 3–14.[1][4] Apple's technical specifications give the input range as 90–240 V; the Service Source gives 100–240 VAC.

The machine accepts 12 MB (4 MB on board plus two 4 MB SIMMs) but addresses only 10 MB. Apple explains that with 4 MB SIMMs in both sockets the lower 2 MB of the on-board RAM cannot be addressed.[1][4]

EveryMac gives 512 KB of VRAM as shipped and describes the 410 as bundled with a 12-inch Apple colour monitor; Apple's manual lists the Performa Display.[3][4]

The PRAM battery is a 3.6 V lithium cell, Apple part 742-0011; Apple says to replace it below 3.0 V. The power supply is part 661-1733, shared with the whole LC family.[1][4]

Known faults

[edit | edit source]
  • Leaking surface-mount electrolytic capacitors on the logic board and in the power supply. The LC II board list is on Macintosh LC II Capacitor Replacement Guide.
  • A flat PRAM battery: Apple's charts for this family put "Check batteries" first for "No video" and in the no-power entries.[4]
  • The 10 MB ceiling above is normal behaviour, not a memory fault.

See Macintosh Performa 410 Troubleshooting and Macintosh LC II Troubleshooting.

Service documentation

[edit | edit source]

Apple covers the Performa 410 in the Macintosh Performa 400 Series Service Source, and the same board under its LC II name in the Macintosh LC Series/Quadra 605 Service Source.[4]
