The Macintosh Performa 6310CD is a model in Apple's Performa 6300 series of desktop Macintoshes, sold outside the United States. Apple's specification sheet gives it a 100 MHz PowerPC 603e, 16 MB of RAM and a 1.2 GB IDE hard drive, notes that it was not sold in the US, and dates it 14 February 1996.[1] EveryMac describes it as the Performa 6300CD sold in Europe and Asia, with the same 15-inch Apple colour monitor, and gives 27 January 1996 as its introduction date; its Japanese order number was M4730J/A.[2]

The Macintosh Performa 6300CD page has the model table for the series, the full specification, the hardware notes and a selection of Apple's symptom charts.

Battery and repair notes

[edit | edit source]

The battery is a 4.5 V alkaline pack.[1] Apple's test is to measure it on the 10 V DC range with the logic board out and replace it below 3.0 V.[3] Neutralise alkaline leakage with a weak acid such as vinegar; see Battery Explosion, Capacitor or Corrosion Damage.

The 6310CD uses the 603e/100 logic board, part 661-1041.[3] One SIMM slot sits beside the processor, whose heat sink has to come off before a SIMM can be fitted in that slot.[3] Apple's repair extension procedures for freezes and colour-hue changes cover "Performa 62xx, 63xx" machines except the 6320 and 6360, although the list of covered models on the manual's Open Transport page does not name the 6310. The procedure is on the Performa 6200CD page.[3]
