The Macintosh Performa 275 is a compact all-in-one Macintosh with a colour screen, introduced on 1 October 1993. It is the Macintosh Color Classic II sold under a Performa name, and was not sold in the United States.[1][2] EveryMac says it was sold only in Asia, and gives the discontinuation date as 1 November 1995 and the Japanese order number as M2498J/A.[3] Apple lists its original system software as J-7.1, the Japanese release of System 7.1, with System Enabler 403.[1]

Apple's Color Classic II/Performa 275 Service Source gives different memory figures: a 16-bit data bus, a dual 30-pin SIMM slot and 10 MB maximum with 100 ns SIMMs. These are the Color Classic's figures, printed unchanged apart from the 33 MHz clock.[4] Apple's technical specifications and EveryMac both give a single 72-pin socket, 80 ns SIMMs and 36 MB.[1][3] Count the sockets on the board before buying memory.

The display is a 10-inch diagonal (9-inch viewable) Trinitron at 512 × 384 and 76 dpi, and the supply is a universal 90–240 VAC unit.[4] Apple's battery rule is to replace the cell below 3.0 V.[5]

Hardware

[edit | edit source]

The logic board comes out of the back of the machine once the I/O door is removed. Apple's charts send smoke, power and most picture faults to the analogue board, which holds the power supply and the CRT drive circuits.[6] The CRT and analogue board carry dangerous voltages; discharge the CRT before working inside. See CRT Discharge Procedure.
