What it settles
[edit | edit source]- Error beeps at the power-on self test (p. 94): one, no RAM; two, EDO memory fitted; three, no RAM bank passed; four or five, bad boot ROM on the processor module.
- Testing for power (pp. 86-91): +5 V trickle at the positive lead of C28 on the logic board with the machine plugged in and off; +5 V on the power supply to power filter cable; +5 V at pin 24 of the original power supply board (661-2081) or pin 3 of the Version 2 board (661-2167); continuity of fuse F901.
- Version 2 parts are not interchangeable with the originals: analog/video board 661-2166 and power supply board 661-2167 among them (p. 13).
- Memory (pp. 62-65): two SO-DIMM slots on the processor card, 144-pin SDRAM; 128 MB maximum on the 233 MHz /A model and 256 MB on the later ones; the lower slot takes modules only 1.0 to 1.5 in tall; 2 MB SGRAM on the logic board plus one SGRAM SO-DIMM slot to 6 MB.
