What it settles
[edit | edit source]- The 3400 has an internal PCI slot for its Ethernet or Ethernet and modem card, a 64-bit processor bus and DMA on its disk, sound, SCSI and floppy interfaces (pp. 16-17).
- RAM cards hold up to 128 MB, for 144 MB in all; Apple's own card was 16 MB (pp. 16, 20).
- The expansion bay accepts PCI-based modules and the 3.5-inch modules made for the PowerBook 5300 and 190 (p. 17).
- The adapter is 45 W and recharges the battery in four hours with the machine running or two hours shut down or asleep (pp. 17, 20).
What this note does not contain
[edit | edit source]- It describes the 180 and 200 MHz machines only; the 240 MHz model came later.
- No schematics, no parts list and no service procedures; see PowerBook 3400c and PowerBook G3 Service Source.
- Its weight and depth figures (6.7 lb with a PC Card holder in the bay, 7.1 lb with a floppy drive; 9.4 in deep; p. 17) differ from the Service Source's (7.2 lb with a floppy drive; 9.5 in).
