The Macintosh Performa 575 is an all-in-one personal computer released on February 2, 1994, as part of Apple's consumer-oriented Performa line. The Performa 575 is a rebrand of the LC 575 configured for retail sale, featuring a 33 MHz Motorola 68LC040 processor, built-in 14-inch Trinitron display, and bundled consumer software.^[1]

Hardware

The Performa 575 uses the same logic board and chassis as the Macintosh LC 575, differing only in configuration and bundled software:

Processor: Motorola 68LC040 at 33 MHz with a built-in MMU. There is no FPU in the 68LC040, but the board has a socket for an optional math coprocessor.^[2]
RAM: Apple specifies 4 MB on board, expandable to 36 MB with 100 ns or faster SIMMs through one 72-pin DRAM SIMM connector. The 5 MB retail figure is that 4 MB plus the SIMM Apple shipped in it.^[2]
Storage: 250 MB SCSI hard drive. Apple built this family with 80, 160, 250 or 320 MB drives, and a manual-inject 1.4 MB SuperDrive.^[2]
Optical: internal Apple CD 300+ CD-ROM drive.^[2]
Communications Slot: 50-pin internal expansion for a modem or an Ethernet card — a feature of the LC 575 board that the LC 520 and LC 550 do not have.^[2]
Display: 14-inch diagonal Trinitron, 13-inch viewable, 0.26 mm aperture grille pitch, 640 × 480 at 70 dpi. 512K of VRAM on board gives 256 colours; two VRAM SIMM slots expand it to 1 MB for 32,000 colours.^[2]

Electrical

The supply is universal: 100–240 V AC, 47–63 Hz, 120 W maximum.^[2] There is no voltage selector switch and no region-specific power board, so an imported machine needs only the right lead. That is worth knowing, because several Apple all-in-ones of this era do have region-specific boards where it matters a great deal.
